Mechanical Design Engineer (Process Equipment)

Description
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong CAD skills to join our in-house equipment
development team. In this role, you will design components and assemblies for gas-processing
equipment, translating process requirements into practical mechanical solutions. You will work closely
with process and engineering teams, taking ownership of assigned equipment components from concept
through detailed design. This position is ideal for an engineer who combines solid design fundamentals
with hands-on industrial thinking.

Responsibilities
This is a junior to mid-level mechanical design role focused on 3D modelling, detailing, and development
of equipment components and assemblies. The role supports process design, engineering coordination,
and project execution activities, working under the guidance of senior engineers. It does not own overall
project management or procurement processes but contributes technical deliverables and supports
equipment design and documentation.

1. Mechanical Design & Equipment Development
Prepare equipment requirements and design briefs for processing equipment.
Develop concept proposals and detailed designs for components and subassemblies under the
guidance of senior engineers.
Develop equipment layouts, 3D models, fabrication drawings, bills of materials, and design
specifications for assigned scope.
Select appropriate materials, fittings, and welding methods.
Ensure compliance with European and international engineering standards.

2. Technical Documentation & Design Quality
Create and maintain detailed 2D/3D designs using SolidWorks, Inventor or Siemens NX.
Develop technical documentation, including fabrication drawings, specifications, and reports.
Prepare technical packages for manufacturing and supplier inquiries.
Apply knowledge of welded joints, flange connections, and pipe fitting techniques.
Ensure quality control according to European welding standards.

3. Engineering Integration & Project Support
Work closely with engineers from other disciplines (process, electrical, and automation).
Provide technical support during project execution and commissioning phases.
Participate in technical reviews and design optimizations.
Provide technical support for equipment and component selection during the procurement
process.
 Review vendor drawings and incorporate approved comments.
 Work closely with manufacturing and assembly teams during fabrication and assembly, collecting
feedback from shop-floor personnel, welders, and technicians.
 Analyse manufacturing and assembly feedback, identify recurring design issues, and implement
necessary design adjustments under the guidance of senior engineers.
 Document lessons learned from fabrication and assembly activities and translate them into
recommendations for future equipment designs, modernisation, and optimisation initiatives.
