Lead Process Engineer
Lead Process Engineer
Description
We are looking for a Lead Process Engineer who will work closely with the Chief Process Engineer
(Technologist), supporting him in both scientific and engineering aspects of process plant design, scale-
up, and operation.
In this role, you will be involved in the full lifecycle of the technology — from concept development and
engineering design to commissioning and ongoing plant operation. You will act as a key technical
contributor, ensuring that process solutions are technically sound, well-documented, and consistently
implemented across projects, while contributing to the continuous development and industrialization of
the company’s core technology.
Responsibilities
This role supports process design, engineering coordination, commissioning, and operational support
activities. It does not own overall project management or procurement processes but provides critical
technical input and validation across these domains.
1. Process Engineering & Design Support
Prepare input data for design organizations and review their deliverables.
Develop block flow diagrams, process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping & instrumentation diagrams
(P&ID).
Provide technical clarifications and documentation to support production line design.
Ensure consistency and completeness of process documentation.
2. Equipment Engineering & Supplier Support
Prepare technical specifications for key equipment and supervise, review, and lead the
development of equipment design documentation (including mechanical design and strength
calculations) by internal or external mechanical/design engineers and CAD modelers, acting as
the technical owner of the equipment development scope.
Support procurement by clarifying technical requirements and reviewing supplier inputs.
Collect and validate technical data from suppliers for integration into production line design.
Collaborate with engineering companies and equipment manufacturers for custom-designed
equipment.
3. Commissioning, Operations & Improvement
Develop commissioning programs.
Monitor implementation of commissioning activities.
Conduct acceptance testing.
Provide technical support during installation and startup phases.
Participate in ongoing plant operations and process optimization.
Capture and document lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of process
and technology.
Position Objectives
Ensure quality and consistency of process design documentation: Deliver accurate and
complete process schemes and technical inputs required for successful plant design and
execution.
Support efficient engineering execution: Provide timely technical responses and
documentation to design organizations, reducing delays and rework.
Enable technically sound equipment selection: Ensure that equipment specifications and
supplier data are aligned with process requirements and project constraints.
Contribute to successful commissioning and startup: Develop and oversee commissioning
programs to ensure safe and effective plant operation readiness.
Support continuous improvement of process and operations: Contribute to optimization,
troubleshooting, and knowledge accumulation through lessons learned.
Key Interfaces
Reports directly to: Chief Process Engineer (Technologist)
Collaborates with:
o Design Organization
o Procurement Department
o Construction Department
o Maintenance Team
o Operations Team
o External Equipment Suppliers
CV Requirements
Education: BSc/MSc in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or
related field (Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science).
Experience: 8–12 years in performing or supporting design work in process or mechanical
engineering for the chemical or metallurgical industry, either within a design organization or on the
client’s side.
Technical skills: development of block flow diagrams, PFDs and P&IDs; reading mechanical
drawings, isometrics and engineering documentation; strong understanding of process
equipment.
Languages: English (fluent, technical, B2+) is a must; Russian, Serbian, French or German is a
plus.
Soft skills: innovative thinking, ability to learn complex proprietary technology and translate it into
practical engineering solutions, strong communication and presentation skills, product
ownership mentality.
Working Conditions
The role is mainly office-based, with travel including up to 25% day-long domestic trips and up to
10% international trips.
Competitive compensation package determined based on interview results, skills, and seniority
level.
Opportunities for professional growth and development within the company.
Exposure to advanced nanomaterials technology and participation in scaling industrial
production.
