TUBALL™ passes mandatory nanomaterial registration in France and Belgium

Thus far, EU member states have failed to agree on the development of an EU-wide special register for nanomaterials, instead relying on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), which addresses the production and use of chemical substances and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment.

France, Denmark and Belgium have imposed a national register of nanomaterials. In order to comply, companies must identify and manage any risks linked to the nanoscale substances they manufacture and market in these three countries.

OCSiAl adheres to all regulation initiatives and recognises the importance of collecting and assessing information on the properties and hazards of nanomaterials for the relevant authorities. In compliance with all of the regulation requirements implemented by Belgium’s ministerial authority, the Federal Public Health Service and the French National Agency for Food Safety, Environment, and Labour, OCSiAl has successfully passed the national registration procedures.

OCSiAl co-operated with the authorities on a range of issues, including estimating the types, quantities and applications of nanomaterials, as well as managing the risks associated with the substances.

Compliance with and inclusion on the national nano registers allows OCSiAl to  manufacture, operate and market  registered nanomaterials in Belgium and France, as well as demonstrating its commitment to providing transparency over the administration of nanomaterials, demonstrating how nanomaterials can be safely used and communicating risk management measures to clients.

Registered nanomaterials are given a single identification number that follows them all the way through the supply chain. OCSiAl will share these identification numbers with clients, in order to make it easier for them to work with nanomaterials and provide more information on the availability of TUBALL™ single-wall carbon nanotubes within these specific markets, where nano registration is required.

TUBALL™ powder received the following registration numbers: BE-000475 in Belgium and XS969-2016-07617722 in France. From this point, OCSiAl will be able to register all types of TUBALL™ mixtures, linking it back to the original identification number issued to TUBALL™ powder.
