Graphene nanotube world leader OCSiAl and the University of Belgrade agree on collaboration

OCSiAl and the University of Belgrade Faculty of Physical Chemistry have signed an academic cooperation agreement that includes sharing of academic information, materials, and publications; cooperation in research; and exchanges and visits of academic staff and students. The agreement will be expanded further as the collaboration deepens.  

The University of Belgrade has a deep base of academic skills and knowledge that it has built since the early 1900s. The Faculty of Physical Chemistry, being an essential part of the University of Belgrade, combines education and high-level research, constantly broadening theoretical knowledge and experimental skills of their students and of Faculty staff. Some of the key areas are materials science, electrochemistry, atomic and molecular spectroscopy, biophysical chemistry, chemical kinetics, and theoretical chemistry.

Being a research and development leader in graphene nanotubes, OCSiAl owns the only scalable technology that can synthesize graphene nanotubes at industrial quantities. The company cooperates with more than 200 universities worldwide in developing and introducing to manufacturing high-technology nanotube-based products. Being a driver in carbon nanomaterial development, OCSiAl provides graphene nanotubes to academic institutions and research laboratories at no cost within its Get TUBALLTM program.

The company will contribute to the innovation ecosystem of Serbia through sharing its unique knowledge, encouraging exchange of skills, creating long-term partnerships and opportunities, and driving innovation and creativity. OCSiAl will give the students of the Faculty of Physical Chemistry an opportunity to learn in greater depth the chemistry and special features of graphene nanotubes and nanotube-based products for electrochemical power sources, elastomers, composites, plastics, paints, and coatings. This will increase the interest of students in the advanced technology sector and stimulate further progress in fundamental and applied research.  

As previously announced, OCSiAl is launching a graphene nanotube synthesis facility and production lines of nanotube-based concentrates and dispersions in Stara Pazova.

Physical chemistry has been taught at the University of Belgrade since 1903. Based on new methods of production and novel techniques used in analyses of chemical and biological structures and materials, the Faculty of Physical Chemistry organizes its curricula as a synthesis of theoretical knowledge and experimental skills training who will be able not only to accept and implement high-tech achievements but also to develop them. Around 1300 students have graduated from the Faculty to date, out of whom more than 200 have obtained PhD degrees and more than 300 have obtained M.A. and M.Sc. degrees.
