OCSiAl discusses plans on Graphene Nanotube Center with Luxembourg citizens

Luxembourg, 05 October 2021 – OCSiAl, the world's largest manufacturer of graphene nanotubes, last night presented its plans to create a state-of-the-art nanotechnology hub to the general public in Luxembourg. The Luxembourg company intends to attract high-tech talent in Luxembourg and will contribute to the creation of 325 job opportunities in various career fields, including engineers, technicians, general workers, HR, line operators, and scientists.

The Luxembourg-based company founded in 2012 - which holds a unique patented technology for its industrial-scale production - plans to establish the "Luxembourg Graphene Nanotube Center" in Differdange, in 2024. OCSiAl is confident that the project, which will become the world's largest graphene nanotube synthesis and R&D facility, has the potential to give Luxembourg a significant boost to become a leading European nanotechnology hub.

The project, the design of which was entrusted to Luxembourg architect Enzio Alleva, founder and owner of Alleva Enzio Architectures & Associés, was presented on Monday evening at Hall O in Differdange/Obercorn. The eco-compatible, planet-friendly centre will be designed with a high-efficiency, ever-evolving water-saving system and with a conscious use of energy resources. The new facility will aim to protect and develop the biodiversity of the area and the natural environment of animals and wildlife.

Konstantin Notman, CEO of OCSiAl, said: "This project represents a major step for OCSiAl and the whole team in our production development, and will enhance our efforts in improving everyday life, whether it be transportation, construction, protection or consumer products”.

"The choice to locate in Luxembourg was made because of advantageous intellectual property regulations and a structured, friendly and responsive approach to our business. More than half of our potential clients are located within a 500 km radius of Luxembourg. With its international and multicultural population and the presence of the University in Belval, OCSiAl has the opportunity in Luxembourg to attract the necessary profiles to ensure its growth", continues the CEO of OCSiAl.

During the public presentation on Monday 4 October, which took place in the presence of the mayor of Differdange, Mrs Brassel-Rausch as well as private and public partners, OCSiAl answered questions from interested citizens who were able to familiarise themselves with nanotechnology and the practical graphene nanotube solutions that OCSiAl is developing for electrochemical energy sources, elastomers, paints and coatings, composites and plastics.
