The outgoing year saw a lot of developments in the global graphene nanotube industry. OCSiAl presents the most significant figures of 2021 that the company reached thanks to its partners and clients, as well as many the scientists constantly working on new nanotube applications.
#1. OCSiAl valuation growth
The valuation of OCSiAl, a recognized unicorn-company in the field of nanotechnology, continues to grow and has reached $2.3 bn in 2021. During the past year, the company has successfully closed a series of rounds to raise investments. Among the new shareholders is Japanese giant Daikin Industries. The cooperation and investment with Daikin Industries was announced in July 2021, following three years of collaboration in developing graphene nanotube applications in batteries and fluoropolymers.
#2. New nanotube products storm the plastics and rubber markets
The portfolio of OCSiAl’s products based on graphene nanotubes was expanded this past year with nine new solutions providing conductive properties and improved performance to thermosets, thermoplastic polymers, and various types of rubbers. Among the brand new nanotube concentrates available to order online are TUBALL MATRIX 808 and TUBALL MATRIX 822 for thermoplastic applications, including TPU, PPS, ABS, polycarbonate, and polyamide; TUBALL MATRIX 610 providing conductivity and high-tear properties to EPDM rubber; and TUBALL MATRIX 620 for NR and NR/BR based non-marking anti-static rubbers.
#3. Get TUBALL contributed to more than 230 R&D projects
OCSiAl is driving research and development with graphene nanotubes by providing TUBALL samples for free to scientists around the world through the Get TUBALL project. In 2021, more than 230 nanotube samples were sent to research groups from leading R&D centers and universities. Meanwhile, almost 300 scientific publications on developments with TUBALL were released over the year.
#4. More than 250 companies have joined OCSiAl’s client portfolio
In total, around 1,500 companies over the world are developing and marketing TUBALL nanotube technologies and products. We are proud to have leading industrial companies among our partners. Among others, this year we have announced joint developments with leading Canadian company Erie Powder Coatings, BUFA & Tiger Coatings’ project on powder coatings on FRP, nanotube-modified heating films entering the market, new development of conductive silicone skin electrodes from Chinese producers, and more. Besides that, the global distribution network of TUBALL-based products has now expanded to the Turkish and Chilean markets thanks to Hayim Pinhas A.Ş. and Compañía Comercializadora.
